Pupil Slicer at ArcTanGent 2026: fourth album underway, prog and fusion roots

UK mathcore collective Pupil Slicer gave an extensive interview to Echoes and Dust at ArcTanGent 2026, revealing that work on their fourth album has begun with a couple of tracks already demoed. Vocalist Kate and guitarist Luke discussed the band's formative influences — Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Deafheaven and Between the Buried and Me — alongside a shared love of 1970s progressive rock and fusion. Luke cited Mahavishnu Orchestra and movie soundtracks as touchstones, while Kate emphasised writing music with depth and layers that rewards repeated listening. The band also spoke about their upcoming tour with Converge and collaborations with artists such as Tayne and BACKXWASH. Pupil Slicer's blend of abrasive mathcore, emotional openness and prog-rooted curiosity places them at the intersection of heavy psych and experimental rock. The interview was published on 5 October 2026.
