Rosetta announce final album Temporal Lapse and share album trailer

Rosetta Temporal Lapse 2026

Philadelphia post-metal veterans Rosetta have announced their seventh and final full-length album, Temporal Lapse, due 27 November via Pelagic Records. The announcement arrives with the lead single "The Native Hue of Resolution" and an album trailer on the band's official YouTube channel.

Recording spanned six years and multiple locations. Drums were tracked for a full week in a 1920s stone church sanctuary outside Philadelphia — the very building where Rosetta held their first rehearsal in June 2003. Guitars and bass followed in August 2024 at Radar Studio in Connecticut (owned by Will Benoit of labelmates SOM), with vocals completed in a ten-day session in Austin, Texas, in December 2025. Matt Weed produced and engineered; Jeremy S.H. Griffith mixed; Carl Saff mastered; Mike Wohlberg handled artwork.

Conceptually the record is loosely structured around the five-stage grief model — denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance — and meditates on loss both personal and collective. The original 2019 concept addressed climate change, but the pandemic halted progress; in the intervening years guitarist Matt Weed lost his house to fire in 2022, and both he and Eric Jernigan lost their fathers. The focus shifted to processing personal grief through apocalyptic and ecological imagery.

Line-up: Mike Armine (vocals, samples), David Grossman (bass), Eric Jernigan (guitars, vocals, bass), Bruce McMurtrie Jr (drums), Matt Weed (guitars, bass). Johnny Dang of O'Brother contributes slide guitar, piano and synths on "Dvora". The seven-track sequence runs: "Curl Up And Deny", "The Winepress", "Dvora", "Self-Dealing Position", "The Native Hue Of Resolution", "The Pale Cast Of Thought", "Ribbon Of Dawn".

The Obelisk (22 Sept) and Doomed Nation (16 Sept) confirm the release date and details. Vinyl and CD pre-orders are open via Pelagic Records and Bandcamp. Rosetta frame this not as a breakup but as a deliberate capstone to the band's two-decade run in its current form.
