Hostile review

Cream's final album the critic did not welcome

Released in the US on 5 February 1969. A contemporary hostile review in Rolling Stone, alongside chart results from the US, UK and Germany with their dates.

The verdict at the time

Ray Rezos reviewed Goodbye for Rolling Stone in April 1969. Under the heading 'What a Bringdown' he called it 'not a very worthwhile album' and 'a bad way to go out', wrote that the live tracks were inferior to the original recordings and that the studio songs were not real blues. This hostile verdict belongs to Ray Rezos and Rolling Stone, not to Echo Mandala.

Sources & context

One critic's opinion, summarised from Ray Rezos's review in Rolling Stone of April 1969. Cream's last album is now recognised as a classic of the late-1960s rock era and includes 'Badge', co-written by Eric Clapton and George Harrison.
