Band of Spice signs to Ripple Music; new album Fathers in the Sky due 22 January 2027

Band of Spice

Swedish band Band of Spice has signed to Ripple Music and will release its sixth album, Fathers in the Sky, on 22 January 2027 on LP, CD and digital. The first single, "Weak and Dangerous," is out now with an official video on the band's YouTube channel. The album was announced on 5 November 2026.

The project is guitarist and vocalist Christian "Spice" Sjöstrand's longest-running band. He formed it in Värnamo in 2006 as Spice and the RJ Band after spells with Aeon, Spiritual Beggars (1993–2001), the Mushroom River Band, Kayser and My Regime. The current lineup adds Ronnie Nielsen (guitars), Robert Petersson (drums) and Alexander Sekulovski (bass).

Ripple Music describes the album as a collision of classic heavy metal and raw alternative rock, with lyrics about extraterrestrial life and everyday human behaviour. This is an announcement based on the label's press release and The Obelisk's report; we have not heard the recording.
