Gnarcissists announce Paradise Aquarium EP, share video for "Hi"

Brooklyn six-piece Gnarcissists have announced a new EP, Paradise Aquarium, due 13 November on Killphonic Records. The lead single "Hi" arrived 25 September with a video premiere on The Spill Magazine.
The song was written during a period when vocalist Matthew Orr was spending extensive time in hospital after a serious accident and a connective-tissue disorder diagnosis. Orr describes the track as emerging from "that strange space between wanting to disappear and wanting to feel something, where even pain can start to feel comforting because at least it proves you are still here."
Paradise Aquarium was recorded at Sean Lennon's home studio and produced by Ben Romans Hopcraft. The six-track EP — "Earl Grey", "Hi", "WOW", "Space Ghost", "Olive" and "Baby Doll" — deals with wanting closeness while feeling increasingly removed from familiar people and places. The band's current line-up includes members of Malice K, Pretty Sick, Navy Gangs and Taraneh; they have shared stages with OSEES, The Voidz, Viagra Boys and Gibby Haynes.
The video for "Hi" is streaming on YouTube. Pre-orders for the EP are open via the band's Bandcamp.
