MR.BISON: The Garden of Forgotten Dreams reviewed on The Obelisk

Mr Bison Garden Forgotten Dreams 2026

Italian heavy prog-psych quartet MR.BISON return with their sixth album The Garden of Forgotten Dreams, out 25 September on Heavy Psych Sounds. The Obelisk premiered the review and the track "Astray" on 7 September; the second single "Bright Shadow" arrived earlier in August with an official video on the label's YouTube channel.

The record was produced and recorded by guitarist Matteo Barsacchi, mixed by Richard Behrens (Elder, Kadavar) at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin, and mastered by Carl Saff in Chicago and Adam Ayan (Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam) in Portland. Eight tracks span 39 minutes, from the fluid opener "Cosmic Tide" through the seven-minute "Bright Shadow" and the Tool-meets-Elder climax of the title track, to the fuzz-celebrated close of "Old Hue".

JJ Koczan at The Obelisk calls it the band's most cohesive and purposefully heavy work to date, noting how Davide Salvadori's synth and Hammond colour the arrangements without softening the riff foundation. The garden metaphor — a refuge for secrets and aspirations — runs through lyrics and dynamics alike. For followers of Elder, King Buffalo, Weedpecker or Naxatras, this is a clear marker of where Italian heavy psych stands in 2026.

Pre-order is open via Heavy Psych Sounds and Bandcamp. The band tours Europe and the UK this autumn, including Stoned From The Underground and Blackdoor Fest.
