New Jersey drone collective Monks Pond will release their new EP Sonic Improvisations for Intentional Listening Vol. 1 on 14 October. The 25-minute two-track set follows their debut full-length Echoes of an Infinite Dawn from earlier this year and deepens the group's meditative, improvisational approach. The opening piece "Of Bodies of Water, I Am the Ocean" spans nearly 18 minutes of evolving drones, violin and harmonium textures, while the seven-minute "Ringing Bell of the Inner Temple" builds around struck bell tones over a shifting drone foundation. The Obelisk premiered the full stream alongside a review noting the music's deliberate pace and serene intent. Recorded and mixed by drummer Steve Moraghan, mastered by Ryche Chlanda. The six-piece — Julie Albert, Heather Ell, Shawn Zappo, James Malizia Jr., Bradley Karl and Steve Moraghan — also performs an immersive live ritual at The Body Art Barn in Blooming Grove, NY on 11 October.
