10,000 Years: Esox Lucifer reviewed on Echoes and Dust

Swedish trio 10,000 Years released their fourth album Esox Lucifer on 7 August 2026 via Ripple Music. The band — Alex Risberg on bass and vocals, his brother Alvin on drums, and Erik Palm on guitar — have moved from their 2020 debut through three prior records to this latest work, recorded at their own Pine Hill Studios with drums cut at Studio Fluff in Västerås.
Echoes and Dust reviewer Zachary Nathanson describes the album as more than straight doom: it blends cosmic space-rock textures, thrash velocity, brutal sludge weight and a post-punk atmosphere reminiscent of The Cure's Pornography era. The opening track 'Beasts of the Northern Wild' sets a Hawkwind-meets-Ash Ra Tempel tone, while 'Two Million Stones' — released as the advance single with an official video — carries a galloping drive and reverb-soaked vocals. Nathanson also hears echoes of Amon Düül II, Voivod, Blue Öyster Cult and Mastodon's Crack the Skye period across the eight tracks.
The review notes that 10,000 Years have arrived with something heavy, strange, psychedelic and unapologetically their own, suggesting the late 2020s could get very interesting for this Västerås outfit.
