Amon Düül II

Amon Düül II emerged from the Munich commune of the same name and became one of the defining bands of the West German krautrock movement. Their 1970 debut Phallus Dei and the follow-up Yeti fused psychedelic rock, acid-drenched improvisation and a communal, ritualistic energy that set them apart from their contemporaries. This Beat-Club performance of "Between The Eyes" — recorded for the legendary German TV music show — captures the group in their raw, early prime: Renate Knaup's incantatory vocals, Chris Karrer's violin and guitar, John Weinzierl's fuzz-laden riffs and the dual-drummer drive of Peter Leopold and Dieter Serfas. The clip is a time capsule of the era's experimental rock television, filmed before the band's shift toward more structured compositions on later albums like Tanz der Lemminge. For listeners tracing the roots of German psychedelia, this footage is essential viewing. The video was published on the official Beat-Club YouTube channel and verified via oEmbed.
