Oakland heavy psych trio Desert Storm released "Newfound Respect" as the lead single from their 2026 album Buried Under the Weight of Reason on Heavy Psych Sounds. The track fuses Kyuss-grade desert grooves with melodic, almost psychedelic lead lines, and the official video — directed by Jane Elizabeth Slater — matches that intensity with grainy VHS aesthetics and postmodern decor. The band cites Nebula, Brant Bjork and early Monster Magnet as touchstones; here they channel that lineage into something urgent and hook-driven rather than purely retrospective. Heavy Psych Sounds premiered the clip in March 2026; it remains a sharp entry point for a band operating at the heavier end of the psych/stoner spectrum.
