Midori Jaeger: Elise Price reviews (Re)planted on Echoes and Dust

Japanese cellist and singer Midori Jaeger released her second EP (Re)planted on 26 August 2026, self-released via Bandcamp. The six-track follow-up to (Un)planted continues her minimalist cello-and-voice explorations of uprootedness, mixed heritage and belonging. Elise Price's review on Echoes and Dust (1 October) describes the EP as a "perfectly homeostatic ecosystem" where each instrument — voice, cello, subtle production — occupies its own sedimentary stripe of colour, united by a warm existentialism. Jaeger, who grew up across multiple continents, uses the cello as both root and branch: its textures evoke bark, rain, heartbeat and clock. The review notes a more confident grounding than its predecessor, with boldness balanced by gentleness. The title track "planted" is streaming on YouTube via P-VINE. (Re)planted sits at the intersection of ambient, experimental folk and psychedelic introspection, expanding the site's Asian psychedelia coverage.
