moksha: ex-Ithaca guitarist launches spiritual art-rock collective

Moksha

Former Ithaca guitarist Sam Chetan-Welsh and his wife Holly have formed moksha, a UK-based spiritual art-rock collective whose debut single "Three Rivers" arrived on 7 August 2026 via CD Baby. The track takes its name from the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of three sacred rivers in India where ashes are immersed in rituals of remembrance and liberation (moksha). The song asks what would change if one knew everything was temporary.

moksha blends emo, math rock, gospel, neo-soul and spiritual jazz, employing an expanded line-up with brass, woodwind, keys and multiple vocalists. The collective — Sam Chetan-Welsh (guitar/backing vocals), Holly Chetan-Welsh (vocals), Zoe Dexter, Hannah Ashman (oboe/organ), Susie Wedderburn (trumpet), Calum Muir (keys/guitar) and Jay Swinstead (drums) — played its first festival show on the ArcTanGent main stage on 21 August 2026. The band intends to perform only one or two times per year, treating each appearance as a rare moment of transcendence rather than pursuing a conventional album-tour cycle.
