Raphael Meleteas: Echoes and Dust reviews Someone Else

Greek multi-instrumentalist Raphael Meleteas released his debut album Someone Else on 24 September via Veego Records. Echoes and Dust reviewer Ljubinko Zivkovic describes the record as a "cinematic journey through 60s & 70s library music, jazz, orchestral grooves and yacht-rock influences".
The album was recorded in Athens between January and June 2025: all nine tracks were written, arranged, performed, recorded and mixed by Meleteas himself. Cited touchstones include Henry Mancini, Quincy Jones, Ennio Morricone and the raw aesthetic of library-music pioneers such as Syd Dale and Percy Faith. Two vocal cuts — "Someone Else" and "May 19th" — bring soft-rock shades reminiscent of Crosby, Stills & Nash and 10cc, while the remaining seven instrumentals drift between bossa-nova, exotica and chamber pop.
The review stresses that Meleteas does not merely replicate vintage sounds but reassembles their vocabulary on his own terms: stereo imaging is more restrained, textures feel organic rather than polished, and the overall sound leans toward home-recording intimacy. "Doorbell" echoes The Mystic Moods Orchestra, "Quincy's Spring" nods to Quincy Jones arrangements, and "The Sweet Enough" recalls Supertramp's "Easy Does It". Someone Else is available digitally and on vinyl (300-copy pressing, VR064); pre-orders are open on Bandcamp and the Veego Records shop.
