Spring Hill Post Tide announce debut album The City Portal Will Be Open for October 16

Spring Hill Post Tide

Wuhan-based space-psychedelic ensemble Spring Hill Post Tide will release their debut full-length, The City Portal Will Be Open, on 16 October via WV Sorcerer Productions. The label, operating between France and China, specialises in avant-garde esoteric music spanning drone, free jazz and psychedelic rock.

The eleven-track album was recorded at Tianti Studio and GEBI in Yiwu with producer Wang Haiyang and engineer Li Ping. It expands the band's core guitar-bass-drums-synth lineup with tenor and soprano saxophones, ney flute, bansuri, theremin, sitar, violin and vocals in Wuhan dialect — a palette rooted in 1970s space rock, Krautrock motorik and spiritual jazz. Psychedelic Baby Magazine, which premiered the full stream today, notes the music grew from improvisations beside Tangxun Lake and a storm-night swim in East Lake that became a guiding image for the sessions.

Spring Hill Post Tide formed in 2022 and have built a reputation through extensive Chinese touring and festival appearances including 越位, 檀谷回聲, FJAKA and MOSS, often augmenting their live setup with traditional dancers and folk vocalists. The physical edition is a limited 300-copy CD in a six-panel 7-inch sleeve with obi. Two advance tracks are already streaming on Bandcamp.
