Steak review their self-titled fourth album on The Obelisk

London heavy fuzz rockers Steak released their fourth album, the self-titled Steak, on 9 October 2026 via Stickman Records and Ripple Music. The eight-track, 40-minute record arrives four years after Acute Mania and marks the band's first outing as a five-piece, with Tom Cameron (ex-Crystal Head) joining on guitar and shared vocals alongside Chris "Kippa" Haley.
The Obelisk's J.J. Koczan reviews the album today, tracing Steak's evolution from their 2012 debut Disastronaught through Corned Beef Colossus and Acute Mania. He notes the expanded lineup brings melodic breadth to tracks like "Infinite" and the opener "Cometh", while the rhythm section of Dean Deal and James Cameron anchors the band's dynamic shifts between crushing riffs and hypnotic passages. The seven-and-a-half-minute closer "Short Arms" builds a linear crescendo that Koczan describes as a "blinding moment of psychedelic immersion and outreach" — a rare explicit psychedelic tag from a publication rooted in heavy rock.
Produced by the band at The Ranch Production House, Steak blends stoner rock weight, fuzz-drenched desert grooves, and progressive songcraft. Pre-orders for the 180g purple vinyl gatefold and CD are open via Stickman Records. The full album is streaming on YouTube via Rock Freaks [official].
