Temple Solaire: the long road to 'Past Due' — Zurich psych debut arrives after a decade

Temple Solaire

Zurich psychedelic band Temple Solaire have finally released their debut album Past Due after more than a decade of existence. The record arrived in March on Taxi Gauche Records, closing a chapter that saw the group change names three times and cycle through over twenty musicians. Recorded on tape at M.I.R. Tape Rec. Unit with Gabriele de Mario, the eight-track LP captures a sound the band describes as "psychedelic jingle jangle tralala hopsasa" — hypnotic, repetitive grooves with garage-psych grit and neo-psychedelic drift. In a new Psychedelic Baby Magazine interview, founder Giovanni A. Fortunato explains the title references both the long gestation and a 1970s New York slang term for overdosing, mirroring the album's dark undercurrent. Tracks like Excitation > Expectation were written for a departed friend, while Rebel shed its 60s revivalist skin for a timeless arrangement. The band — now a tight core with Fortunato (guitars, vocals, organ, synth), Ben Geiser (drums), and Harold J. Herrera Medina (bass) — recently played release shows in Zurich, documented in a live video for Celeste at Photobastei. Pre-orders for clear vinyl, CD and digital editions remain open via Bandcamp and Taxi Gauche.
