The Well release fourth album ...And Flames Ran Like Living Animals

The Well Flames 2026

Austin psych-rock trio The Well released their fourth full-length studio album ...And Flames Ran Like Living Animals on 14 September 2026 through Spaceflight Records. The record follows 2019's Death & Consolation and was assembled in two phases: the first four tracks were cut with Bryan Richie (The Sword, Spaceflight Records) at Paper Weapons Studio in Taylor, Texas, while the remainder took shape during 2025 with longtime collaborator Chico Jones producing, mixing and adding further tracking. Max Lorenzen of Rare Earth mastered the album.

Vocalist-guitarist Ian Graham describes the result as the band's most diverse work, shaped by the intense emotional peaks and valleys of the past six or seven years. Bassist-vocalist Lisa Alley notes the group deliberately avoided rushing, treating each song's mood and dynamics with care while keeping the live set in mind.

The lead single "New Hallelujah for the Damned" arrived with a video directed by Olivia Maaghul, filmed at the SST warehouse owned by Greg Ginn (Black Flag, SST Records) and featuring a cameo from Ginn himself. The band will tour the US West Coast through October with support from Moon Destroys (members of Torche, Royal Thunder) and Pink Fuzz, after a Levitation festival appearance on 13 September.

The Well formed in 2011 and have previously released Samsara (2014), Pagan Science (2016) and Death and Consolation (2019) on Riding Easy Records.
