Yôkaï Release Third Album Humboldt Today

Yôkaï

Brussels-based six-piece Yôkaï release their third studio album Humboldt today, 16 October 2026, via Humpty Dumpty Records. The record brings together jazz, psychedelia, dub and experimental rock, with a more direct, guitar-driven sound than their previous work. Formed in 2011, the group initially drew on ethio-jazz before gradually moving toward a more experimental sound. Following their 2022 album Coup de grâce, the band settled into a six-piece lineup and developed new material through improvisation during residencies. Humboldt was recorded in September 2024 at Free House in Brussels, mixed by Pieterjan Coppejans at Robot Studio in Ghent, and mastered by Matt Colton at Metropolis Studios in London. The title references Venezuela's Humboldt Glacier, reclassified as an ice field in 2024 — one of the ideas behind the album's themes of change and uncertainty. A listening session filmed at Kiosk Radio on 9 October previews the album. The record is available on vinyl, CD and digitally.
